Company History – A Century of Tsunezawa

| Meiji | 43 | Founder Toyo Tsunezawa focused on the problem of bamboo cores burning in grilled chikuwa, devised a metal core using tinplate, and jointly obtained a patent for a chikuwa extrusion machine. Established Tsunezawa Iron Works in Uomachi 1-chome, Kesennuma City, and began manufacturing the machine. Later engaged in repairs of marine internal combustion engines and began research on engine technology. |
| Taisho | 5 | Manufactured and maintained parts for fishing vessels and undertook general overhauls of fishing boats. |
| 11 | Expanded the factory. | |
| Showa | 4 | Lost factory in Kesennuma Fire. Rebuilt the factory and began full-scale production of marine hot-bulb engines. |
| 13 | Manufactured machine tools ordered by Tokyo Standard Laboratory. From this time, main business focused on development and manufacturing of engines and machine tools. Relocated to Uomachi 3-chome, Kesennuma City in 1941. | |
